Prayer of the Faithful Seventh Sunday Year B
Priest:
The distance created between God and humankind is caused by sin which is an illness of the soul. Aware of our need for healing, we now approach the Father and ask for his love.
1. We pray that the church of God may be constantly at work carrying out Christ’s saving mission through the forgiveness of sins. Lord, hear us.
2. That priests who celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation mayalways show compassion and understanding to penitents. Lord, hear us.
3. May we always þe ready to forgive others, realising that this is the shared duty of all who follow Christ. Lord, hear us.
4. We pray for a respect for all human life, for an end to violence as a solution of human problems. Lord hear us.
5. We pray for the sick and the handicapped. For Jenny Connolly, Ladonia Low, David Burns, Margaret Barrowcliff, Michael Connolly, Arthur Keenan, Sally Dornan, Brian Fisher, Margaret Kelly, Mary Smith, John Connolly, Diane Smith and Edward McIntosh.
May the Lord bring them comfort and hope in their sufferings. Lord, hear us.
6. We commend to the Lord all those who have died. For who died recently, John McDermott, and the anniversaries of Betty Brown, Robert Boyle, William Kerr, James Taylor, James Bryce, Peter Drysdale. May they rest in peace. Lord, hear us.
7. We pray in silence for our own intentions.
Priest: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the forgiveness shown to us by your Son. May we in our turn show forgiveness to all who have offended us. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen
